This Privacy Policy explains how Skillshort Edulife Pvt. Ltd. (“Skillshort”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses and protects personal data when you use skillshort.com or contact us. We process personal data in line with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) and other applicable laws.
1. Data we collect
- Enquiry, demo-booking and contact forms: your name, phone number, email address (where asked), the course you are interested in, and any message you write.
- Student sign-up / login: your name, phone number and email address, and the details needed to give you access to student tools.
- Phone and WhatsApp: when you call or message us, your phone number, name and the conversation content.
- Technical data: IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, referring site, and cookie or similar identifiers, collected automatically.
We do not ask for sensitive data such as bank card details on this website.
2. How we use your data
- To respond to enquiries, book demo classes and counselling, and contact you by phone, SMS, WhatsApp or email about the course you asked about.
- To register students and provide classes, study material, placement support and student tools.
- To measure and improve our website and advertising, and to keep the site secure.
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We process your data on the basis of your consent (for example, when you submit a form) or for other legitimate uses permitted under the DPDP Act. We do not sell your personal data.
3. Cookies, tracking and third-party tools
- Google Ads (conversion tag AW-17291784317): measures ad clicks and form submissions and may be used for remarketing.
- Meta Pixel (ID 749621525595670): measures visits and actions from Facebook/Instagram ads and may be used to show relevant ads.
- Google Search Console: used to understand how the site appears in Google Search (aggregated search data).
- Essential cookies used by WordPress for login sessions and site security.
These providers may set cookies and process data under their own privacy policies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and manage ad personalisation in your Google and Meta account settings. Blocking cookies may affect some site features.
4. Sharing
We share data only with service providers that help us run the website, hosting, communication and advertising (such as those listed above), with employers or recruiters as part of placement support where you have agreed, or where required by law. We require providers to protect your data.
5. Data retention
We keep enquiry data for as long as needed to respond and follow up, and generally not longer than 2 years after our last contact with you. Student records are kept for the duration of the course and placement support and as required by law (for example, tax and accounting records). After that, data is deleted or anonymised.
6. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, such as encrypted (HTTPS) connections and restricted access, to protect personal data. No online system is completely secure, but we work to prevent unauthorised access, loss or misuse.
7. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act, you can:
- request a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how it is used;
- ask us to correct, complete, update or erase your personal data;
- withdraw consent at any time (this will not affect processing already done);
- raise a grievance with us, and, if not resolved, approach the Data Protection Board of India;
- nominate another person to exercise your rights in case of death or incapacity.
To stop calls or WhatsApp messages, just tell us during the call or reply “STOP”.
8. Children
If a user is under 18, we process their data with the consent of a parent or guardian, and we do not knowingly track children or target ads at them.
